What is Mediothek? 3

Mediothek afghanistan promotes peace building in five provinces of Afghanistan and is dedicated to rebuilding the fabric of Afghan society destroyed by decades of war. Mediothek’s projects are based on the premises that peace and democracy are complex cultural processes that do not end with elections and peace accords. A functioning civil society plays a crucial role in the process of consolidating peace, therefore Mediothek seeks to strengthen civil society by its projects. Aims and target groups

How does Mediothek work? 2

Mediothek's work is based on three pillars:
Community Development, Media production and Network & Platform.
The community development activities is to develop active and sustainable communities based on peaceful interaction, social justice, continuous learning, and mutual respect.
The media programs and publications produced by media house nawbahar are aimed at raising political and cultural awareness. The network and platform interconnects different ethnic groups, youths and Journalists.

Mediothek in history 1

Mediothek was founded in Germany by exile Afghans and German experts of Afghanistan in 1993.
According to the changing needs of the country during and after the war the focus of Mediothek changed: from preserving the cultural heritage, school projects, and academic initiatives in the 1990s to peace building activities to support the Petersberg Process. More..
